Getting There

Wednesday morning our flight left Atlanta for Honolulu at 10:50. It was a 9-hour flight, but at least we had seats at the side instead of the middle of the airplane - and we got to sit together!

Delta's meal service is no longer free - but you may purchase from a menu at prices about as high as the altitude of the airplane.  There wasn't much on the menu suitable for us.  Fortunately we'd prepared fairly well.

We arrived at 2:30 p.m. Hawaiian time (8:30 pm. Collegedale time) - six hours difference.  The tour company met us with live-flower leis, and by 4 we'd gotten settled in our room at the Ohana East Hotel in Waikiki.

Weather in Hawaii is a welcome relief from the crucible of Collegedale heat these days.  Gentle warmth, with trade winds blowing.

Walking around after a meal, we found an outdoor hula concert.  It was free, well-done, and at the end one of the dancers presented Barbara with another lei formed of live flowers!
